Majada Verde Potable Water Project

Majada Verde is an aldea (rural community) situated in the mountains about three hours walking distance (walking is the most common form of transportation Majada’s 960 inhabitants) from the town center of Talanga.  The  162 houses in this aldea comprise some of the most destitute living conditions in the Talangan municipality.

Majada has no access to any public services, most significantly electricity, potable water or sanitation (latrines, etc).   Families carry water in buckets from the rivers that run through the aldea but, because these rivers also serve for families to wash clothes and bathe, water-borne illnesses including hepatitis and intestinal parasites are quite common.  With no close access to a health center, many inhabitants consistently live with compromised health.
